Toyota today unveiled the new generation of the Rolling Tundra giant, which has taken on a more outrageous appearance and increased power in the 2022 model.
With a 14-year-old platform, the Toyota Tundra still sells well in the market. The car has undergone minor changes from the 2007 model to keep it up to date, and although these changes have not been enough, many owners have remained loyal to it.
But having a 5.7-liter V8 engine with high fuel consumption, and old technology compared to the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, led Toyota to redesign the Tundra in the 2022 model. Now mounted on a new chassis with two V6 engine options, the Toyota Tundra 2022 is a significant improvement over the previous pickup truck, which in recent years has only been offered with a V8 engine.
The base engine is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 389 horsepower and 649 Nm of torque. In the i-Force Max hybrid engine, an electric motor is added to the car’s 10-speed gearbox to achieve an astonishing 437 hp and 790 Nm of torque.
Rough and attractive appearance
Toyota’s new pickup has a fresh look and sharp angles that make the car look more powerful and muscular than before. The front hood is longer than before and the roof with a more square design enhances the unusual appearance of the previous van. But the interesting part is a huge windshield, which is given an angry look by a C-shaped frame for the radiator with a bent panel for the bumper.

However, this design may not be to everyone’s liking, and some will prefer the “1794 Edition” of this car, which has a chrome bumper instead of a completely black bumper with a broken design.
The trimmed arches of the fenders and the upper body of the wheels give a special charm to the side view, and the rear bumper, with its integrated appearance, leaves aside the traditional steel and separate bumper. Toyota intends to give the Tundra 2022 a modern look with its black A and B pillars, giving the cabin a wider look and making the car’s windows appear wider and wider.

As before, the Tundra CrewMax body style has a rear window that folds into the car wall, but in the Double Cab version, it shifts horizontally. Thus, none of the CrewMax or Double Cab models will have a normal cabin.
CrewMax uses the 1.7-meter (5.5-foot) cargo area by default, but buyers can also order it with the 2-meter (6.5-foot) cargo area offered for the standard Double Cab model. A 2.5-meter (8.1-foot) load section is also available for this model. Both body styles have four doors that open from the front; A feature that the previous generation Tundra 2007 introduced for better cabin access.
Interior cabin
Inside the car, current Tundra customers will surely be completely satisfied with the views of the van and the dashboard below, but they will also be shocked by the amount of technology provided.
The size of the base infotainment system is 8.0 inches, which is an increase of 1 inch compared to the previous model, but higher-end models use a 14.0-inch touch screen that mounts to the van’s dark dashboard. In addition, Toyota’s previously undesirable software has finally been phased out, and the Tundra 2022 uses a new technology that is highly functional and action-packed. Apple CarPlay and Android Otto are standard on all models, and the car also supports services such as Amazon Music and Apple Podcast.

The interior looks clean and attractive. This space is designed with a thick piece of metal decoration and a large dashboard to have enough space for air conditioning vents and displays.
There is plenty of space for the driver and passenger in the front row, and a deep center console provides enough space for a laptop, handbag, or another everyday accessory. Side rails and a vertical pad for wireless charging provide enough space for everything and keep the front row tidy.
The rear passengers, however, are not so lucky because it seems that due to a panoramic sunroof, the space behind the passengers has been reduced compared to before, but the footprint is still excellent.
More powerful than ever
Thanks to the use of the first full-frame chassis in the Tundra and the spring suspension and multi-link suspension, this pickup with a base engine offers a payload of up to 880 kg and a towing capacity of up to 5.5 tonnes. In the 2021 model, this amount was up to 780 kg (1730 pounds) and 4.6 tons (10200 pounds), respectively.

Optimal for detours
According to Toyota, this power is less than competitors because the buyers of this van prefer daily use, reliability, and off-road features to high numbers. For this purpose, the automaker does not allow its flagship Tundra TRD Pro to have a place to rest and a 2.5-inch space for its Fox bumpers with high tanks and up to 1.1 inches of space for TRD-designed springs. has done.
A unique stabilizing bar and a wide bottom tray are also included to provide the best ride. This new Toyota pickup also uses a standard LED for headlights, crawl control, and Toyota’s multi-terrain Select feature. Digital texture design in the center of the seats and wheel arches is also used to make the car’s off-road capabilities more prominent.

The hybrid motor comes standard on the TRD Pro, which would be a great option because it must provide low torque when driving in the wrong direction of the electric motor. The i-Force Max transmission will also be available in “Limited”, “Platinum” and “1794” editions. While the base SR and the mid-range SR5 only receive the non-hybrid turbocharged V6 engine. There is also a TRD Off-Road package in most types that offers Bilstein dampers, lateral motion control, and Toyota multi-tier selector system.
Car safety
Each Tundra 2022 comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense version 2.5, which is the carmaker’s latest active safety system and driver assistance. TSS 2.5 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, lane-assisting at the intersection with front-facing traffic detection, blind spot control, rear-facing vehicle warning, and automatic headlights. With these technologies, as well as adaptive cruise control and active lane-driving, even in the standard version, the Tundra should offer a comfortable ride on long highways like its predecessor.

The Tundra combines all of these features in every trim, including the SR Pabe. Most competitors, such as the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and Ram 1500, need to use a higher type or option to have an active safety system and driver assistance. Only the Nissan Titan comes standard with automatic emergency braking and collision control. However, you still have to pay more for adaptive cruise control and other auxiliary features.
Price and time of supply
Toyota Tundra 2022 is still a few months away from the market and its sale will start at the end of 2021. Unfortunately, the automaker has not yet announced the price of the car or features such as ground clearance or traction capability of the i-Force Max system, but it can be logically assured that this van will not be much more expensive than the previous model.
The price tag for the base SR 4 × 2 starts at around $ 36,000, the SR5 CrewMax 4 × 4 starts at $ 45,000, and finally, a TRD Pro or 1794 Edition with all the features should be around $ 60,000. Which provides the best torque and maximum power.
We will have more information about this car in the coming months, and while the 2022 Toyota Tundra will still not catch up with the Ford F-150, it will do very well in retaining its loyal customers and will definitely attract new buyers.
