Snapdragon 898 is Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, and now, thanks to the first unveiling of its benchmark on the Geekbench site, we can focus on its features. Although Xiaomi is usually the first company to offer a phone equipped with Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, this benchmark is for a Vivo phone. According to various reports, Xiaomi Mi 12 series phones will be launched with this chipset.
Snapdragon 898 chipset
In this benchmark, Snapdragon 898 scored 720 and 1919 in single and multi-core, which is much lower than the figures recorded by the previous generation. According to published reports, the Snapdragon 898 is about 20% faster than the 888, but in any case, this increase in speed is not seen in this benchmark.

This lower-than-expected performance could be due to the phone’s unstable firmware as well as the chip not being final. On the other hand, this test may have been performed in battery saving mode, which puts less strain on the processor and therefore records poorer performance. All in all, we will have to wait for more benchmarks to be released to see if other benchmarks also show low numbers.
As we expected, the core of this chipset is Cortex-X2, which uses a speed of 2.42 GHz. Although the Cortex-A710 and Coretx-A510 cores are not mentioned in this benchmark, we are dealing with the same cores with speeds of 2.17 GHz and 1.79 GHz. These numbers indicate that the benchmark obtained from this Snapdragon 898 model did not provide its maximum power.
According to one report, the maximum speed of the Cortex-X1 reaches 3.09 GHz. For comparison, the X1, A78 and A55 cores in the Snapdragon 888 use speeds of 2.7, 2.4 and 1.7 GHz, respectively.
