We are going to take a look at the technologies that Samsung Neo QLED TV offer to users and enthusiasts of the Korean company.
Most TV developers are looking for great picture quality; But the designers and engineers of Samsung’s Neo QLED series TVs have focused on providing a new level of visual experience and pushing past the old boundaries of the field. The goal was to make a TV with the latest and most advanced features available to users.
Since its official unveiling, Neo QLED TVs have received certifications that no other TV has been able to obtain. Receiving certifications such as Gaming TV Performance and Eye Care from the prestigious VDE Institute are some of these successes. The TVs also attracted the attention of the world’s leading economics and technology media, which praised Samsung’s Neo QLED series for its stunning picture quality, audio innovations and up-to-date design.
Samsung’s Neo QLED TV
In the following, we will read the story of designing and manufacturing Neo QLED TV from its creators.

Start
Neo QLED TV innovations were key with the development of the Quantum Mini LED. This technology is the new light source of the TV and its height is only one-fourth that of ordinary LEDs. Samsung engineers were able to reduce the size of the LED to a very small particle and put a micro-sized layer on it that distributes light evenly inside the LED so that the chip can produce and distribute light independently. These new LEDs eliminate the disturbances and noises of previous technologies and help to provide a natural and smooth image display.
“On TVs that use conventional LEDs, an extra lens is placed on top of the LED to reflect light around,” says Minhoon Lee, an engineer involved in the Neo QLED TV project. So in the Neo QLED series, our main focus was on a new LED that emits light independently. “The Quantum Mini LED is smaller than previous models and does not require an extra lens, which allows us to put more LEDs together.”
Because the height of the Quantum Mini LED was only one-fourth that of the previous LEDs, engineers had a lot of trouble producing them. The right equipment to work with these tiny LEDs was not available, which made the production process very complicated and difficult.
“In addition to the problem of the Quantum Mini LED being small, the exact location of the power input to the LED and the coordination of the thousands of elements around it had to be determined,” said Kihun Lee, another engineer involved in the Neo QLED TV project. “Here, Samsung’s expertise and experience in producing micro LED displays helped, and we were able to use these experiences to overcome problems.”
Details: Quantum matrix

Local dimming technology is a solution that optimizes the amount of brightness of the image at any point and based on whether the images are bright or dim, improves the image quality and displays the image closest to reality. Increasing the contrast on the screen while displaying vivid and natural images helps reduce energy consumption.
Samsung has been using local dimming technology for a long time and has been able to improve and develop it by researching and studying this technology. Samsung Neo Quantum TVs are equipped with an evolved version of Local Dimming technology called the Quantum Matrix.
With this technology, Neo QLED TVs increase the brightness up to 12 bits in 4096 steps, so that the darker parts will be darker and the brighter parts will be brighter, and a more accurate and comprehensive experience will be transmitted to the user. Quantum matrix technology is capable of displaying colors in dozens of different surfaces without blooming. For example, if you are playing a video game, you can easily see and recognize the enemies inside the dark cave.
“The range of light that the human eye can see is called the dynamic range,” says Minhun Lee. “In quantum matrix technology, light rises to the level of 4096, which means that the dynamic range is maximized.”
According to Lee, the human eye is very sensitive, which is why the technology has been developed in such a way that each color plays its role instead of combining with the others. Quantum matrix technology delivers extra power left unused in the darker parts of the screen to the brighter parts of the screen to maximize brightness. Thanks to this, the brightness of Neo QLED TVs has reached a significant 4,000 nits.
Quantum matrix technology, in addition to precise control of the Quantum Mini LED, monitors and examines the light source for each content separately. In fact, the quantum matrix works by accurately analyzing the source of the content being played, so that users can have a real, natural, and enjoyable experience of the images.
For example, if a scene in a movie requires a maximum sense of depth, the technology focuses the light on the object in front of it by darkening the background of the image. This technology is a different phenomenon and goes beyond simply turning the lights on and off.
Neo Quantum processor upgrade

When it comes to enjoying the best visual experience, content image quality is as important as having a high-end display. To ensure that Neo QLED TV users enjoy the highest picture quality, Samsung engineers have designed an advanced processor equipped with Neo Quantum AI. Despite this processor, and even if the main source of images is not high resolution or users’ Internet speed is low, Neo QLED is able to improve it to the best quality.
Using 16 different neural network models, each trained in deep learning technology and artificial intelligence, this processor can deliver 4K or 8K images to you, regardless of the original image quality.
“The performance of the Neo Quantum processor is such that it first analyzes the video features,” says Bongguon Lee, a member of the Neo QLED development team. The most optimal neural network is then selected from the 16 available networks to enhance the image. “In fact, each of the 16 existing neural networks is able to play a specific role so that the processor can more easily apply precise details to the video.”
According to Lee, the processor method for enhancing the image and filling in the pixels has become more precise and advanced. TV manufacturers typically use methods such as using adjacent pixel information to match the image to the display of their products, which ultimately blurs the final image and reduces its quality.
But with the Neo Quantum processor, precise neural network analysis is used to replace the pixels to enhance the image as realistically as possible. Using a smart template allows the TV to run the best possible upgrade solution regardless of the quality of the input video (SD, HD, FHD, 4K).

Dimensions have always been one of the most important factors in users’ decision to buy a TV. That’s why engineers and designers at the time of making the Neo QLED believed that “bigger is better.” This approach was also used in the manufacture of television.
“In the past, some people did not feel good about big TVs,” says Bongguon Lee of the dimensions of television. Because not all pixels were seen with clarity and clarity, it created an unpleasant visual experience. “But on Neo QLED TVs, technology has reached its peak, allowing users to see the best picture quality on their big screen.”
All of these features make the Samsung Neo QLED series the beginning of a new era in home entertainment, bringing an enjoyable and exciting visual experience to all homes.
