As you probably know, the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition was introduced several months later than expected. After the introduction of this phone, many experts announced that many users will probably prefer to buy the Galaxy S22 instead. Although the two phones are not very different in terms of design, on the other hand, we must point out the important hardware differences between the two. With this in mind, we will continue to look at the similarities and differences between the two phones to see which of them makes more sense in 2022.
Designing
If you put these two phones together, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference between them at first glance. Although slightly different in size, the camera module design of both phones is very similar. In addition, in their camera module, we are dealing with three main cameras, Ultra Wide and Telephoto, which we will discuss in the following.
After removing the camera protrusions, the second important difference is the material used for the back panel. The Galaxy S21 Fan Edition uses a back panel called glasstic, which is essentially the same as plastic, but Samsung says it evokes a sense of glass. However, unlike the previous generation, the Galaxy S22 uses a glass back panel. Despite this difference, both have aluminum frames, which increases the durability of the body.

The similarities between the two include the use of flat AMOLED displays with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and FHD + resolution, and therefore the difference between their displays is limited in principle. The Galaxy S22 comes with a 6.1-inch display, but the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition uses a 6.4-inch display. The S22 is also more durable against bumps, scratches and scratches by using Gorilla Glass Victos Plus protective glass.
In terms of screen cavity, there is no difference between S22 and S21 fan edition, but in terms of selfie camera, the fan edition model has more to say. Specifically, this phone is based on a 32-megapixel selfie camera, but Samsung has used a 10-megapixel selfie camera for the S22.
Hardware capabilities
After reviewing the appearance features, now is the time to take a look inside these phones. The S21 Fan Edition with Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 has hit different markets, and in most markets, of course, users receive the Exynos chipset-based model. But the Galaxy S22 has a 1st generation Snapdragon 8 or Exynos 2200, which naturally have more to say than the previous generation. Also, the most expensive model of these two phones has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, and in this regard, there is no difference between the two. Also, we should not miss the fact that it does not support microSD memory card.

At the beginning of this article, we said that the module design of both phones is very similar to each other, and Samsung has used a triple camera for these two phones. But now we have to say that the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition uses a 12-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The S22 comes with a 50-megapixel main camera, 10-megapixel telephoto and 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. So users can take better pictures with S22 cameras.
Due to the fact that the body of the S22 is smaller, so naturally its battery capacity is less than the S21 fan edition. Specifically, the battery is based on a capacity of 3700 mAh, but the S21 Fan Edition uses a 4500 mAh battery, so there is a significant difference between the two in this regard. Of course, in addition to this difference, we must also mention the equal charge speed, because both support 25-watt wireless charging and 15-watt wireless charging.
Although both phones use a fingerprint sensor under the display, the Fan Edition model sensor uses optical technology, but the Galaxy S22 has a sensor based on ultrasonic technology, which therefore offers more speed and accuracy in this process. Finally, we have to mention the software discussion, in which there is no significant difference between the Galaxy S22 and the S21 Fan Edition.

S21 Fan Edition comes with One UI 4 based on Android 12, but the S22 series comes with One UI 4.1, but there are no significant differences between the two versions. As you probably know, Samsung has announced that a number of the company’s handsets, including the S22 and S21 Fan Edition, will receive four new versions of Android and will benefit from security updates for 5 years. This means that both phones will receive Android 16 and can use security updates until early 2027.
Price
Samsung is considering the same price as the previous generation for the price of the S22 series phones, which is why the Galaxy S22 is on the shelves with a base price of $ 799. On the other hand, the cheapest model of Galaxy S21 Fan Edition is priced at $ 699. Also, the most expensive model of this phone, which uses 256 GB of internal memory, is available to users at a price of $ 769, and the S22 based on these features is priced at $ 849.
Which model makes more sense to buy?

The base model of the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition is $ 100 cheaper than the S22, and generally has good hardware and software features. But for users who do not have a very limited budget, they can get new chipsets, better bodies and more powerful cameras for $ 100 more. Of course, in the meantime, we should also mention the weakness of the S22 selfie camera against the fan edition model. On the other hand, the Fan Edition model, despite its lower price, benefits from a larger display and battery, and these two features are very important to many users.
Given that both phones have the same design and equal RAM and internal storage, the choice between the two is very simple. People who are looking for a better selfie camera with a bigger screen and battery, it is better to choose the Fan Edition model, but users who care a lot about the image quality and features of the chipset, the Galaxy S22 can probably attract their attention. Finally, depending on the budget and features you have in mind, you can choose between these two phones. Which phone do you think makes more sense?
