How torrenting works? If you’ve never heard of torrent, torrent is actually a method of distributing files over the Internet. Instead of using the HTTP protocol, this method actually works based on the BitTorrent protocol to allow special methods of file sharing called P2P.

Using this method and sharing files based on torrent has many advantages over traditional file sharing. For example, using another torrent, you will not need expensive server equipment to send the file to multiple people at the same time, and with low bandwidth networks, you can easily download large amounts of large volumes of data. . For more information about this method, join us in the continuation of this article in Wironal.

How to use torrents in simple language

One of the most common ways to use a torrent is to create a file with the TORRENT extension. Inside the torrent file, there are instructions on how to share your data with other people.

How torrenting works

Torrent files can be dangerous

Before we get into more about torrent files and how they work, you should know that using torrent files is more dangerous than other available methods of data sharing. Using torrent files is not dangerous in itself, but you should keep in mind that if you want to use these types of files, you must have complete confidence in the source from which you receive the torrent file. Because if you download the torrent file randomly and without obtaining the necessary permissions, they can easily infect your system through malware.

If you want to use a torrent file to share your data or download torrent files shared by others, be sure to note that your system is equipped with a powerful antivirus and only download and download torrent files from a source. That you trust them completely.

How torrenting works

Torrent is a unique way to share files

Torrents are like any other file you download, but how to download torrent files is not as simple as sharing them. Let’s give a simple example of how traditional file sharing works over HTTP to better understand this:

  1. Open a website in your system browser.
  2. Click on the download link on the website and start the file download process.
  3. You save the desired file on your system.

The file you started downloading is probably a large file designed to be available to thousands or millions of people at the same time, and people to download it at the same time. In fact, your download file is on a server that anyone can access and download.

  • Check internet connection security

But torrents work a little differently. The sites you open on your browser are based on the HTTP protocol; But torrent files use BitTorrent. For this reason, to use this method, you must connect to BitTorrent. How to work in torrent is as follows:

  1. Open a torrent application.
  2. Enter the desired TORRENT file and start the file download process.
  3. Save the file you want to your system.

In this scenario, the content you download from the torrent file may be hosted on hundreds of servers at the same time, but these servers are almost always standard home systems, just like you! No advanced hardware is required to use this method, and anyone can exchange and share the desired file this way. In fact, anyone who even downloads part of the file can act as a torrent server and send the same amount to others!

How torrenting works

How does torrent work?

This may seem a little confusing at first, but the idea of running a torrent is very simple. As we said, torrents are based on a peer-to-peer (P2P) network, which means that torrent data of any kind can be accessed and downloaded simultaneously on more than one server. Anyone who starts downloading the torrent file will receive the file in chunks from different servers.

For example, imagine that I have just created a torrent file to share an application with you. I enable torrent and share the file with you online. Thousands of people are downloading this file at the same time and you are one of them. Depending on who is sharing the file and which servers already have the part of the file you need, your torrent program will select the server and download the file to you. he does.

Traditional file sharing settings use a file server that shares a 200 MB file with 1000 people, which slows you down a lot while downloading; Especially if a large number of people are downloading the file you want at the same time.

Using torrent will not cause this problem and will allow its users to receive any part of the data of the desired file from another user until the download of the file is completed. Once a person has downloaded the entire file, the person who shared the original file can stop distributing the file without affecting the download of the file by others.

Finally, the shared file remains accessible to other users due to its decentralization, as the mainstay of the BitTorrent method is P2P, or peer-to-peer.

How torrenting works

Decentralization of the torrent method

Once you have created the torrent file you want, you as the creator of this file can share two things: the torrent file you want or some amount of torrent file which is also called a magnetic link.

Magnetic linking is a simple way to identify a torrent file on a BitTorrent network; No need to deal with a TORRENT file. This is only for torrents, and although you only have one string in this method, the same string of characters works just like the original file!

Magnetic links and torrent files are often in the torrent directory. Torrent directories are sites that are specifically designed to share torrent files. You can also share torrent information via email, text, and more.

Torrent files and magnetic links only serve as instructions for the BitTorrent user to understand how to get the data they want and share the data quickly.

Common terms in torrent

If you want to use torrent, you should also be familiar with the common terms of this method of data sharing. Here are the most important terms of the torrent environment:

  • Seed: Torrent means sharing the desired data. Torrent number also means the number of people who have the full content. The term Zero Seeds also means that no one can download the entire file. So in choosing a torrent file, you must be careful about the number of seeds. The higher the number, the easier and faster the content will be downloaded.
  • Peer : Peer means someone who is downloading a file from a Seeder (full content holder) but does not yet have the entire file.
  • Leech (Leech): Leech or Leecher refers to people who download files more than they share them! A Leecher disconnects after downloading the entire file and no longer uploads anything.
  • Swarm: A group of people who download a torrent and share the same file is called a swarm.
    • Tracker: A server that tracks all users connected to the network and helps them find each other.
    • Client: A web application or service used by a torrent file or magnetic link to understand how to download or upload files to a torrent.

    Frequently Asked Questions About Torrents

    How do I stream torrents?

When you want to stream a file, for example a movie file, you can actually watch the entire movie live without having to download the file. To do this, you need a dedicated site or tool to stream torrents. For example, WebTorrent Desktop, Webtor.io and Seedr are some of the tools you can use to stream content. Note that access to the video or video you want must be free and legal.

    • What is Secure Boot and how to enable it?

How do I speed up torrent downloads?

There are several methods you can use to speed up torrent downloads. First of all, note that the more “Seeders”, the faster the torrent file will download for you. We also recommend using wired Internet instead of Wi-Fi, downloading files one by one, disabling your system firewall (if you trust the content you download), and finally speeding up your Internet. Give.
