Microsoft releases Windows 11 updates to keep users’ systems up to date. These updates are usually helpful, but older Windows users know that some updates can have problems that no one wants to experience. Therefore, we want to show you how you can stop or disable updates to the latest version of Windows.
Unfortunately, there is no way to interrupt the updates, but you can stop downloading and installing them . There is also a temporary way to enable auto-updates. If you are working on an important project and do not want to install new Windows 11 updates right now, the following solutions may help you.
How to stop Windows 11 updates?
1. From the Start menu, click Settings.
2. Go to the Windows Update section .

3. If there is a pending update, you can see it at the top of the window. You can also click the Check for updates button to see what other updates are in the queue.
4. At the bottom of the page is an option called Pause updates. On the right side of the page, there is a button called Pause for 1 week that delays updates for up to a week.
5. If you want to wait more than a week, click the same button again to delay updates for up to three weeks.
6. If you want to continue updating again later, you will see a button called Resume updates on the page. You can resume updates by clicking on it.

7. Unfortunately, unlike Windows 10, which allows you to delay updates for up to 35 days, in Windows 11 you can only block them for up to three weeks.
How to change the system restart time?
Windows usually need a restart to install updates, and since installing each update can take the system out of reach for minutes to hours, it’s a good idea to know how you can change the restart time.
1. In the Windows Update window, click Advanced options.
2. Look for the Notify me when a restart is required to finish updating option and activate its switch. This will let you know if a restart is needed and you can change the time.
3. Click on Active hours below the option above. From the menu on the right, open Adjust active hours and select Manually or Automatically. If this is your first choice, you can specify a time when the system could not be restarted. If you select the latter, the system will restart when you are not using it.

How to disable Windows 11 updates?
If you want to prevent updates from installing automatically for a longer period of time, there is a way to disable updates that worked in Windows 10 and should work in Windows 11 as well. But this method was not permanent even in Windows 10, and most sources said the updates would be reinstalled after a while. However, you can try your luck.
1. Use Win + R to open the Run window and after typing services.msc, click OK.

2. Scroll to Windows Update, then double-click it.

3. In the window that opens, select Disabled from the menu next to Startup type.

4. Now select OK and restart the device.
If you change your mind later, you can re-enable the updates section by following these steps. If you look at the menu above, you will see that there are two options, Manual and Automatic. The Manual option, which is selected by default on most computers, means that updates must be activated with one event.
