With Google Translate, you can easily scan images and translate them into any of Google’s supported languages.
With your mobile phone, you can scan an image containing text or select an image that you have already saved in your gallery, and then translate the text inside the image with the help of Google Translate.
You can use the Google Translate app to translate images on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone in two ways:
- One way to translate a photo is to point your camera at the photo and let the app scan it. If you have not already saved the photo in your gallery, you can use this method.
- If the image you want to translate is in the gallery of your phone, enter the image in Google Translate and do the translation.
Scan and translate a new image with Google Translate
To translate a photo that is not in the gallery of your phone, first open Google Translate. Inside the app, tap Camera below the text box .

Your camera opens. From the top, select the text language inside the image and the language to which you want the text to be translated. To detect the source language automatically, select Detect Language in the Source language field.

At the bottom of the camera view, tap Instant .

Point your phone camera at the image you want to translate. The program translates the text on your photo.

If you want to take a still image and then translate it, tap Scan, take a picture and let the app translate it.

Scan and translate images saved with Google Translate
If the photo you want is already stored in the phone gallery, you need to add it to Google Translate for translation.
To do this, first, run the Google Translate app on your phone. Tap Camera in the app .

At the top of the camera screen, select both the source and destination languages to translate your image. To detect the source language application, select Detect Language in the Source language field.

At the bottom of the page, tap Import to add your image to the app.

If yes, tap Yes. Then select the image you want to translate.

Google Translate imports and scans your image. To see the translation of specific words, tap those words in the image.

Tap Select All to see the full translation of the text in the image .

You can easily translate texts from photos.
