Google Pixel 5a review Google introduced a new phone this year in which it has tried its best to use advanced SoC, interior design, upgraded camera and a completely new look to upgrade the Pixel series, which of course we don’t mean pixel 5a.
If these kinds of dramatic improvements are what you’re looking for, you’d better look for the Pixel 6, which will be released this fall. In contrast, the new Pixel 5A is only a tedious upgrade compared to pixel 6. The screen has grown a little larger this time, the phone now has an IP standard for water resistance, and the battery capacity has increased to a decent extent. This is all about the new 5a.

Google Pixel 5a review
The Pixel 5a is a good phone, but it can’t exactly be considered a bold move, but with all that in mind, Google has managed to address some of the weaknesses of its previous Series A models while also lowering the final price.
Display & Specs
The Pixel 5a uses a 6.34-inch Auld display with a p1080 resolution, which is slightly larger than the 6.2-inch screen at 5a 4G. Such size is by no means large, especially compared to the larger 6.5-inch panels that are common on mid-range and lower-end Android phones. It also uses a standard refresh rate of 60 Hz, so you can’t get a softer and faster animation experience of 90 or 120 Hz rates, although such rates are quite common on devices with a price of 5A.
Although the 5A display isn’t so attention-seeking, it’s big enough to feel the difference compared to the 4A and 5a 4G. OLED technology offers a rich contrast and brightness is so good that you can see the content of the screen outside of direct light without much effort, something some competitors of this phone lack.
In the technical specifications section, there is no change to the 5a 4G: the Pixel 5A uses the same Snapdragon 765G chip with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space. However apps open quickly and there are no delays or problems with daily tasks and surfing messaging apps.

Complex image processing tasks are also done in a second or two, and all of this happens in the background.
Battery
The leap in battery life compared to the previous version is another story for the Pixel 5a. It has a capacity of 4,680 mAh compared to 5a 4G at 3,885 mAh. This capacity is very close to the 5,000 mAh batteries common among competitors. Google calls this capacity “all day”, with up to 48 hours of life if enabled to save ultra-battery life.
In reality, the three-hour use of this phone with medium screen light brings the battery to 70 percent. Users with heavy activities can spend a day on this battery, and if you’re a less-consuming user who spends more time on the Internet, you can expect the battery to last 48 hours even without saving mode.
Build Quality
The Pixel 5A has an IP67 standard of dust and water resistance, meaning it can be immersed in about a meter of water for thirty minutes.

In the front panel of gorilla glass 3 is used to protect the screen and under the outer plastic shell of the phone the metal body is used. The plastic plate has a matte surface that is admirable – more slippery than a glossy surface and doesn’t show the stains easily.
There is only one color to choose from in this version: black. Of course, you can season new colors with one of the color body frames designed to further protect against droplets and impact.
Software & Connections
5a comes with Android 11 and is supported by Google’s typical three-year operating system and the usual security update policy. The phone has a longer life than most affordable phones but Samsung has just begun offering four years of security updates with its A-Series devices, and Apple is offering the latest version of its operating system to the six-year-old iPhone 6S this fall. Of course, in pixel 5a it is also possible to connect to the 5G network.
Camera
Camera hardware 5a is another part that doesn’t look exciting on paper but in practice is much more than the sum of its specifications. The 12.2-megapixel main camera has an optical stabilizer that can hardly be found at a price range of less than $500. This type of lens-based stabilizer helps you take clearer shots and is also very useful in low light conditions.
The main camera comes with a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. This combination may not sound like much alongside the triple and quad cameras on other phones, but these third and fourth cameras are usually macro sensors and quality depths that are not actually very widely used.

If these specifications look familiar, the reason is the same hardware as the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5a 4G, which is actually suitable for this model as well. Even without new sensors or lenses, the 5A still offers the best mid-class photo quality, thanks to Google’s smart image processing. Many pixel 5a competitors can take good shots in bright light outside, but Google is still the faint champion of low-priced handsets.
5a handles high-contrast scenes well and offers slightly more natural colors than Samsung phones. Portrait photos and night mode of this phone are one of the best you can get from a mid-range phone, although you can certainly recognize their limitations with more complex subjects. Google has made more efforts to equip the Pixel 6 to compete with Samsung and Apple flagships in the world.
Summing up
There is no wireless charger on this phone and the 5A will be the last pixel sold with the charger inside the box.
There are also $400 and $500 phones with more prominent features than the Google Pixel 5a. For example, the Samsung Galaxy a52 5G has a large 6.5-inch screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

But the Pixel 5a is just a good versatile phone with a great interface, fast software updates and all the basics of an affordable phone at a reasonable price. The 5a 4G used to be a good phone, and clever 5A improvements, such as waterproofness and a larger battery, have made it easier than ever to recommend this phone to a wide range of people.
It’s a shame that the Pixel 5a will face such a limited supply, both in terms of the countries in which it will be available and in terms of sales in the United States. The device surpasses competitors in many ways, such as its superior camera and waterproofness, and has its own features in other cases such as large screens and improved battery life.
