Although Microsoft has tried to make it difficult to change the default browser in Windows 11 so that users can use the Edge browser; But with a few more clicks we can get to our favorite browser.
The default browser for Windows 11 is Microsoft Edge. In fact, Microsoft has no interest in its users using browsers like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Although Microsoft has made it difficult to change the default browser in Windows 11; But there is still a way to change Microsoft Edge to our favorite browser.
Change the default browser in Windows 11
Unlike Windows 10 in Windows 11, web browsers are not allowed to change the system’s default browser, but you have to enter the settings and do it yourself. Changing the default browser in Windows 10 was possible with just a few clicks; But in Windows 11 we have to try a little harder.
To change the Edge browser and select the browser you want, go to Settings and from there enter Apps and then Default Apps. You can also press the Windows + i shortcut keys to open the settings window. In the Set defaults for applications section, you must find the desired browser and click on it.

After doing this, you will see a long list of file types and protocols that the browser supports. This list includes HTM, HTML, PDF, SHTML, SVG WEBP, XHT, XHTML, HTTP, HTTPS and MAILTO.

You must click on all of these files and protocols to change the default browser for them. Then click OK.

When you click on many of these links, Windows 11 will ask you to check the Edge browser first. You must click Switch Anyway to change the browser. As you can see, Microsoft has made every effort to allow it to use Edge as the default browser.

With all these time-consuming clicks and extra steps, you can now change your default Windows browser.
We can hope that this problem, which is now in the beta version of Windows 11, will be solved in the next updates; But Microsoft has not said anything about it. Web browsers are a big business, and the fact that users can not easily choose another browser will encourage more people to use the Edge and increase Microsoft’s profits. After all, in many cases, Microsoft does not respect the user’s default browser choice. For example, no matter what your default browser is, Windows 11 will open the Climate Widget with the Edge browser.
Edge browser is a good browser; But it is better to achieve a higher position without the help of Microsoft.
